Starting today, all weddings booked by February 21st will recieve at no extra charge either our fantastic Basic Dance Floor Lighting or 4 of our Ambient Decor Uplights! This really is an easy way to either spice up the dance floor or venue.

Enjoy you date night tomorrow with whatever you choose to do. Ours will likely involve a great meal at home, a bottle of wine and an evening of laughter trying out our new board game, Awkward Family Photos.

This Sunday, February 5^th, we will be going back to my home town to help raise money for the Rawn Family.  Around Easter, Ashleigh (one of my nearest and dearest friends) suddenly went blind in one eye, just around the time she learned she was expecting her second child.  She slowly recovered from this and then she was attacked again by what is known as ‘Devics Desease’; this time she suffered tremendous pain and suddenly became paralyzed. This is an autoimmune, inflammatory disorder in which a person’s own immune system attacks the optic nerves and spinal cord.

This explained the blindness, paralysis and extreme pain from the chest down.  She has been Hospitalized since August 2^nd  when she was first admitted into intensive care; they delivered her healthy daughter on October 24^th and is now said to be leaving rehab in only 2 more days and returning home to her amazing husband and daughters.  Finally!

Since Ashleigh’s recovery is ongoing, and her husband, Ryan, has taken a leave from work to care for their family; they will continue to be bombarded with insane costs such as installing a chair lift,  the ongoing treatments, and not to mention the help they will need in caring for both herself and their children as Ryan returns to work.

Come out one and all to this Family Fun event at the Palmerston & District Community Centre this Sunday from 11 – 4.  All money raised will be directly donated to this family. If you cannot attend, donations will be greatly appreciated and we can do this on your behalf.

Next Friday, February 10^th, we will be staying in our community for the Heart-to-Heart Community Dance.  The goal is to raise money for Myah and the Windrim Family. Myah, as many of you know is an adorable, loving, five year old girl who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

The lives of this young family (Nichola, Dave, Tyson, age 2 and Myah) turned upside down last spring when the doctors at Sick Kids’ Hospital told them that Myah had three inoperable, cancerous brain tumours.

To help raise funds for Myah’s family, the Alton Community will be holding a fundraising dance on February 10, 2012. Our community would like to raise funds for this family to help cover the costs they have endured during Myah’s illness.

She is amazing and beautiful little girl who we have met through School (our daughter and her attend kindergarten at the same school), through the Sunday school program and also due to the fact that Dan and her mother, Nicola, have been friends since Public School.  Nicola is a teacher at the Alton Public School, but has taken a leave to tend to Myah’s ongoing care.

Tickets for this event are sold out; however any donations you can make will be gladly accepted.

We are very proud to announce our latest award; we have just received word that we have won the 2012 Community Service Award from the CPDJA. We have been awarded this through our initiative to lead the Music is Timeless program, where we have been volunteering time in local retirement facilities and other groups to provide music and companionship. We also have donated our services to many locally run charities, causes and the local public school.  Why, because this is what it means to be in a community.

Remember, to have a community, you need to make a community. To do this you need to care, love, give and support.  I hope that we will never be in a position to need to lean on others like both of the families I have mentioned, but if I ever do, I know our community will stand beside us.

Laura and I have had the privilege of participating in some of the most fantastic events, at some of the most special and unique locations in our professional careers this past season.  As everyone knows, we truly love our work!

Our special efforts and unique client care process has brought us to the top of our craft, and the testimonials and recommendations have never been more affluent. We have also been included on numerous of the elite vendor lists throughout the GTA and beyond.

Our spearheading of The National “Senior Citizens” outreach program of Music is Timeless has been placed into effect and we are proud to be one of the pioneers in this venture.

At a National Level we were also proud recipients of The 2010 Member of the Year and 2011 Service Excellence Awards that were presented to us both over the past several months from the CPDJA (two in one year –a new record for us!)

Laura and I have never been prouder of the recognition, smiling faces, and fantastic memories we have left behind.

We look forward to the 2012 season with the same enthusiasm, and await eagerly the visits to unique venues, fantastic new friends, and a year of goal setting and execution!

Our daughter came home on Christmas Eve and told me all about her new friends and what was going on in the lives of her old ones.  She even had a treat bag of goodies waiting for her from a group of ladies who have taken a fancy to her.

A long overdue word of thanks to both yourself and Laura for the parts you each played in helping to make our wedding day fabulous.

You did an amazing job Dan picking music based on our other selections and the wants of our quests. Every person we have spoken to since we returned from our vacation early November comments on what a great time they had. Jenna and Garth are still talking about how much fun it was, which is a huge compliment to you!

Age range of the quests that stayed around for the evening was any where from 16 to 70 and they were all enjoying themselves dancing to the same tunes. That in itself is quite an accomplishment!

The music pre, post and during the ceremony was perfect…and I didn’t even notice the transition from the cocktail hour to the dinner in the other room – it was all seemless.

Party Rock was in the house!

What is really required for music choices when planning the ceremony sector of your Wedding Reception?

Time and time again we are confronted with the same question when meeting with engaged couples. Many have attended Weddings over the years and remembered only the “traditional” musical selections that have been repeated over and over through the decades. This is not to say that the “classics” are not amazing pieces of music that truly set an ambiance of class and elegance. However, many couples have commented that these selections are not a direct reflection of their own personal musical tastes or mood they wish to unfold.

The traditional Wedding Ceremony when broken right down involves four basic sectors. Firstly there is the music that is played while guests gather at the ceremony location. Traditionally was provided by String, Piano or Organ typically at many Church or Courtyard style Weddings. The selections were usually Wedding classical pieces or even Hymn’s found within the Church’s Hymnbooks. Secondly there was a selection of song or songs for the transition of the Bridal Party and Bride Herself to move to the altar at the front. Thirdly There was a traditional selection played during the actual signing and witnessing of the marriage license. Lastly There was a traditional uplifting selection played during the walk back up the aisle as newlyweds also traditional.

Enter the new mentality. The couple that longs for their Wedding Experience to be fun for guests and themselves alike from the moment of arrival on wards. This not achieved by “reinventing the wheel” so to speak, but merely to introduce a wheel that offers the chrome and brash that many couples “roll with” in their daily lives.

We are often asked when discussing this type of migration what the “typical songs “ for this choice might include? The joy of this choice is the word typical is replaced with individual or unique . For those that have been following our promise that has became our mission, we strive for a Unique, Memorable and Fun Wedding Experience. By hand picking musical pieces that have meaning for you both as a couple, you have already indicated to your guests that there attendance is important and well thoughout. So many couples have commented in the past that they want there guests having a terrific time, be toe tapping, and feel included from the moment of arrival onwards.

When we suggest this alternative to the classical pieces of yesterday, there are so many wonderful choices for your Modern Hip and Trendy Ceremony. Our favorite choice currently for an “old mixed with the new solution” is The Vitamin String Quartet style music. This will prove to provide exceptional entertainment and ambience for all ages. Your young friends will marvel as they recognize the song that is playing in a classical context. Your parents and older guests will enjoy the variety, and overall distinguished mood that is enjoyable for all.
